The highly anticipated Cape Town edition of Walk in Elegance Fashion Show took place on April 5, 2025, at Belmont Square. Curated by the visionary founder and CEO, Cordi Shelembe, this installment continued the mission to elevate South African fashion and provide designers with a platform to showcase their talent internationally.

Following their Walk in Elegance show in Johannesburg last month, which Trendsetters Only had the privilege of attending, we were equally thrilled to experience the Cape Town edition. Jaydee Muller, representing Cape Town Models, graced the runway alongside a talented cast of fellow models. As a magazine dedicated to spotlighting true trendsetters, we were excited to cover these rising designers who are making a bold mark on the South African fashion landscape.

The Cape Town show stood as a powerful tribute to South Africa’s rich cultural tapestry and dynamic creative spirit. Designers drew inspiration from a wide range of local heritage influences, skillfully blending traditional aesthetics with modern design. This fusion not only celebrated the nation's diverse fashion identity but also positioned South African creativity with pride on the global fashion stage.

Some of these talented designers included Mbabi Mudau of Ambara, Badmus Yusuf of AWENI Idol Stitches and Stacey Alexander of Alexander Hudson. Ambara returned with a high-luxury collection that was both exclusive and polished. Each piece showed a sense of craftsmanship and attention to detail. AWENI Idol Stitches delivered African luxury in a bold and dramatic way. The designs featured rich fabrics and furs, colourful patterns and innovative silhouettes that made a powerful cultural statement.

Cape Town's vibrant culture played an important role in shaping the atmosphere of the event. The city's rich history, diverse communities, and artistic flair infused the runway presentations with authenticity and depth. The backdrop of Cape Town's iconic landscapes further enhanced the visual storytelling, creating a unique immersive experience.

The event served as an esteemed platform for emerging designers, offering them exposure to both local and international audiences. By spotlighting South African talent, the show helped put Cape Town on the map as a growing fashion hub in Africa.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the high quality and creativity of the designs.

From Johannesburg to Cape Town, the Walk in Elegance Fashion Show highlights the rising momentum of South African fashion. With such visionary platforms supporting local talent, the future of South African fashion looks incredibly promising. Walk in Elegance is set to showcase again in Mpumalanga with a set of new designers on the 5th of May 2025.
